“Hello, everyone. My name is Rosie, and I want to tell my story. I’ve been visiting gynaecologists for over a year; I’ve been to 4. I have constant heartburn. In January last year, I took the first swab (the generic one), which showed candida albicans. I first went to my GP and then to my first gynaecologist; I did the treatment that was prescribed to me… but it didn’t solve anything. I knew that candida was hard to defeat, so for a month, I also went on an anti-candida diet; I took natural remedies, such as grapefruit seeds, propolis and aloe vera, under the advice of my herbalist. Despite everything, my heartburn continued to be there. Afterwards, of my own free will, I took the swabs again (this time specific), where I tested negative for candida and other infections and positive, however, for trichomonas.

Then I thought, “So the treatment hadn’t had an effect! My problem is trichomonas tests.” That’s what I thought. And so it was that I contacted the first gynaecologist again (who previously told me that I only had candida and nothing else), who gave me a treatment with tricandil ovules and four trimonase tablets. No benefit! So, thinking that the treatment wasn’t right (on the internet, I read that metronidazole is the only one that can defeat trichomonas), I changed to a gynaecologist. The latter told me that even if the swab showed the trichomonas test positive, in reality, I didn’t have it (he doesn’t believe in swabs); he told me that I had both candida (even if the swab didn’t show it) and a small sore and it was the one that caused the heartburn, and so he burned it.

After the burn and the treatment, I still had those usual burning sensations. I spoke to him about the “vulvodynia” that I had read on the internet, and he told me “, You’re fine; you just have to have a child, and you’ll see that everything goes away and then stay relaxed!”. Meh!!!!!!

So, I decided to go to a doctor in London (Chelsea); I had read her name online (V Association). He was very kind and willing to listen to everything I had to say. He told me I have mild vulvodynia, so he gave me a cure for a month: pollen, saginil, veteran, sporanox (for candida) and exercises to do at home (contraction and relaxation and stretching). I did the treatment + the exercises. Unfortunately, I had poor results: among other things, vatran gave me nightmares, so I stopped it under the doctor’s advice. The same doctor told me that if I hadn’t solved the problem with this month-long treatment, I would have to do “tens”… I’m from Nottingham and for me this would have meant travelling Nottingham-London every week… it’s a bit complicated, but if it helps PSs heal, I’m also willing to do it.

Except that before taking this step, a Trichomoniasis Test Kit, I thought about doing the vaginal swabs again to make sure I still didn’t have any infections (this was in November 2009). From the swabs, I tested positive for trichomonas again. And so (maybe I was wrong, I don’t know) I went to the fourth gynaecologist (this time in Nottingham) to get a treatment that was effective in destroying trichomonas.

I paid her two visits. I did the prescribed treatments, but I’m still at the same point.. still burning! When I spoke to the latter doctor about the “tens” that the London doctor had possibly recommended to me, she told me that these devices had been replaced by vaginal cones and advised me to use them once removed infections. Sorry if I’ve gone on… but understand that I’m very confused and not very confident; at the same time, I want to feel good and solve this problem that has been bothering me for too long. That first message was followed by others on the health forum, and from there, I learned about Rosie’s forum. However, before the summer, I repeated the vaginal swabs, which came back negative, I had a colposcopy which revealed that I was affected, and from there, I took a three-month treatment with colpofix gel and immunotoxin doses. My current situation is not this: I continue to have heartburn, and the last time I tried to have intercourse, I had pain and burning in the days after intercourse, also urinary burning. I’m tired, and I’m scared… I hope to have a diagnosis and find a way to recover. A thousand thanks!
