What is it?

A Profile blood test in the UK contains several markers that aid in detecting iron blood test deficiency. Haemoglobin is made up of iron, a vital mineral. It is a protein found inside red blood cells that distributes oxygen to the tissues.

4 markers

Iron: helps carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of the body.

CRP HS (C-Reactive Protein High Sensitivity): measures levels of inflammation in your body.

Ferritin: measures the amount your body stores.

TIBC: measures the amount in your blood.

Please take your sample in the morning, at least one hour before any medication. Do not take biotin supplements for two days before this test.

How long do the results take?

The target turnaround time for test results is 1-3 working days of receiving them in the laboratory. The turnaround time is a guide only and will sometimes depend upon assay run schedules.

Please take your test on a Monday to Thursday to avoid delivery delays by Royal Mail over the weekends.
