What is the type of infection detected?

It is a bacterial infection found in your genital or urinary tract.

  • Causes

Your immune system can be one of the causes of this infection. When you have a low immune system, you are more open to catching a flu, cold, or even an infection, like Ureaplasma.

The other cause can be sexual intercourse. This is one of the most common ways to contract it and needs a Ureaplasma Test. So you must ensure you use protection and don’t change partners often.

  • Symptoms

What are the symptoms in men?:

  • Penile secretions.
  • Dysuria (painful urination).
  • Burning sensation during urination.
  • Altered urethral secretions.

What are the symptoms in women?:

  • Pain and burning sensations during urination.
  • Watery, abundant, unpleasant-smelling secretions.
  • Itching or pain in the vaginal area.
  • Abdomen pain or pelvis pain.

A pregnant woman can transmit this infection to the child during birth. Even though the baby can show an atypical symptomatology:

  • symptoms like pneumonia and lung injury;
  • difficulty breathing, but in the absence of pneumonia;
  • symptoms like meningitis and brain damage.

You have to consider taking a test before getting pregnant, as this infection can also lead to spontaneous abortion or premature birth.

  • Diagnosis

Certainty diagnosis requires biochemical tests and the use of special equipment.

Since both Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma infections are similar, PCR tests certify the infection. The Ureaplasma Test is easy; you collect a sample from your genital area and send it to your preferred laboratory. The results should come quickly and it is easy to read.

  • Treatment

Treatment monitoring is vital for checking treatment success. Antibiotic treatment is the only solution for anyone who wants to eliminate this infection. Therefore, the next thing to do once you have a positive result is ask your doctor to prescribe the treatment and ensure you take it. The chosen therapy should consider the patient’s profile, state of health, and the specific diagnosis established following related investigations.

If you are pregnant, you must avoid taking antibiotics as they can have severe risks.

  • Prevention

Infection prevention involves avoiding sex and protection. In general, proper hygienic behaviour, associated with methods of a prophylactic nature, is extremely useful for avoiding infection. Avoiding risk factors is the first recommendation.

Before any sexual intercourse, you can discuss it with the partner. If positive for Ureaplasma, avoid having sexual contact for the entire period of the treatment.

Carrying out regular checks. Having fewer sexual partners is the main way to reduce the incidence and the need for Ureaplasma Tests.

According to specialists, the presence of this bacteria should not raise major problems unless the infection occurs during pregnancy.

If you or anyone else is concerned about the infection, you should see a specialist doctor or your GP. To avoid it, use protection during sex.

What are the common Questions?

  • Q: Firstly, what is this infection?

    • A: A bacteria commonly found in people’s urinary or genital tract
  • Q: And how is it spread?

    • A: But it can be spread by vaginal, penile, oral or anal sexual contact.
  • Q: But how can I reduce my risk of getting this bacteria?

    • A: If you are sexually active, you can reduce the risk of getting it by using condoms correctly every time you have sex.
  • Q: However, what are the symptoms?

    • A: Those infected may not notice any symptoms. However, the main symptom is inflammation, which can cause discomfort
  • Q: But what are the symptoms for females?

    • A: Pain during sex, post-coital bleeding, pain in the stomach area, swollen genitalia, vaginal discharge, burning sensation when urinating.
  • Q: And what are the symptoms for males?

    • A: Urethritis, discharge from the penis, stinging sensation when urinating.
  • Q: However, how common is the Ureaplasma infection?

    • A: A recent study has suggested that over one per cent of the population could be infected
  • Q: Also, can this infection cause infertility issues?

    • A: But if a woman has unexplained infertility, she should get tested for it, as this might be the issue.
  • Q: So, if I am pregnant, does it affect my baby?

    • A: Therefore, it can be passed on from an infected mother to the fetus in the womb. But, in this case, there is a risk of miscarriage, stillbirth, risk of premature birth or rupture of the membranes prematurely.
  • Q: Finally, can a post-ureaplasma test treatment cure it?

    • A: Yes, the healthcare provider will give the cure to treat the infection.

Accuracy

The accuracy of any of our diagnostic tests is defined as the combination of sensitivity and specificity variablesSensitivity is the test’s ability to confirm positive results; specificity eliminates negative results. All our tests are validated with high accuracy (up to 98.5%).

Variables

Accuracy can be affected by various factors that our lab cannot control. Infection intensity, patient health, and sample quality, dependent on adherence to “home testing” procedures, can all limit the test results. Although our tests are extremely sensitive, a poor-quality swab makes it harder to detect the presence of infection, as fewer viral particles will be present. Please carefully consider the information sheet accompanying your sample collection kit to ensure a high-quality sample.

Detection

The Ureaplasma  PCR detection test can detect the presence of the Ureaplasma urealyticum bacteria to a high degree of accuracy. The test uses a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplifying method to detect the presence of the pathogen.

Positive result

A positive result suggests the presence of viral particles in the sample during testing; upon receiving positive results, you should contact your healthcare provider for treatment. You can also gain a prescription through our website. It is possible the Ureaplasma urealyticum bacteria do not present symptoms of the disease, but you may still be infectious to others.

Negative result

While this can provide reassurance, it is important to understand its significance. This means the test did not detect the presence of infection at the time of testing. Results should still be discussed with a healthcare provider while considering lifestyle and sexual history. If you are in contact with someone who tests positive for the disease or begins to present symptoms consistent with the disease, you should contact your GP.

Would you like to see some Ureaplasma Shared Stories?

Testimonials Story from Lisa

Good morning; my name is Lisa. I am a 31-year-old woman after a very stressful period of imbalance in the intestinal flora (I suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome and recently suffered from Candida). I started having strong, intimate burning after eating at an Indian restaurant.

In the following days, thinking about transient cystitis, I looked at my eating habits, and it seemed to have gone away; out of scruple, I went to a gynaecological check-up and performed all the possible swabs for infections.

The Cervical Checkup after my exam

The cervical swab showed Ureaplasma urealyticum load 10,000 (with susceptibility test attached); the gynaecologist gave me the following treatment: miraculin 100 twice a day for 14 days + 14 days break + 7 days of miracles + crisp sachets to be taken during the break and after the 7 days.

Honestly, I feel intimate discomfort such as losses of all kinds, high burning pain, and pain during intercourse, but I have read testimonies regarding the fact that antibiotics in certain situations do not solve anything at all and make them worse; some believe that antibiotic treatment is not recommended, but rather an improvement in lifestyle is necessary.

Well, I didn’t know what to do. I would like to have faith in the therapy I was given, but it’s more than a month of antibiotics in the middle of summer, and what’s more, I fear that Candida will return as I’ve already suffered from it.

Also, I asked if the therapy I was given was adequate.

Thank you for your kind availability.

Another Story from Francesca

Hello everyone! I’m Francesco, I’m 24 years old, and I’m new to the Forum. I have read several stories and healings this week, even with few male experiences. However, I hope you can show me the right path to healing from this torment that has been accompanying me for about 4 years.

It all started about 4 years ago; I had been with my ex-girlfriend for about 6 months when I began to experience the first symptoms of prostatitis. Initially, I didn’t think about the symptoms completely; I thought they were temporary. Still, the symptoms that slowly got worse were decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, the need to urinate many times a day, pain in the prostate area and intestinal disorders. So, after the situation worsened and after it became unsustainable, I decided to go for a visit to the 1st andrologist urologist. After various examinations and Ureaplasma tests, what came out was acute inflammation of the prostate caused by a bacterium for which I tested positive as it belongs to the Mycoplasma family.

  • What Came next

The therapy I was prescribed was Ciproxin for 10 days, if I remember correctly, laminate for 15 days, Serenoa repens for 3 months and a behavioural diet where only the lightest foods were allowed. The antibiotic didn’t work immediately because I tested positive again, and when I returned to the andrologist, he prescribed Bassado for another 10 days. And subsequently tested negative.

But deep inside, I still thought the inflammation would return. And it was like this: after about 4 months, the inflammation returned. I went to the same andrologist again and asked why it had returned. Should I perhaps continue maintenance therapy? And he replied to me verbatim: you don’t get the flu?? Needless to say, what would I have done to him? However, after that visit and having politely extracted more money from me, I left and decided not to return.

  • Time to change

I changed the andrologist (the 2nd) and went there since they had spoken well to me about it… and he prescribed me Bactrim once a day for 3 months and hot cups 2 times a day… at the beginning, the situation seemed to improve. Still, in reality, I didn’t have a complete recovery, and after 3 months of antibiotics, in the fourth month, imagine what happened to me.

The symptoms had worsened compared to the beginning of the therapy. I was taken by despair and also destroyed on a psychological level. I changed andrologist again or the 3rd and last. After I had told my whole story, I called the 2nd andrologist crazy.. after the Ureaplasma tests, including the spectrogram, which highlighted a decrease in sperm motility and therefore highlighted that the infection was still present, he prescribed me Cibotrex for 2 months, 3 times a week, Leviaprost and a therapy that consisted of emitting radio waves towards the prostate.

The situation improved as usual in the first period and worsened when I stopped therapy, later convinced that andrologists are a race that only wants to extract money from you and destroy your body by bombarding you with antibiotics; today, I treat myself!!! And I confirm that I have never obtained such satisfactory results since I have had this inflammation.

Another Story from June

Good morning everyone

I just wanted to add my testimony.

At the beginning of June, I did a vaginal swab for prevention but, above all, because I am planning a pregnancy.

Although I didn’t have any symptoms or strange discharge, I was diagnosed with a 100,000 charge.

Very sad, I asked for help, as always, from you on the Forum and Dr. Pesce. No antibiotics.

I first took some Lactonorm; then I got my period. As soon as they were finished, I started two cycles of the Miriam protocol, a break and 3 days of Lactonorm before menstruation. Once my period was over, I waited 4 days to do the Ureasplasma Test swab again, and it had disappeared.

I just wanted to tell you that restoring our flora naturally is the best help we can give ourselves without having to immediately resort to antibiotics, which very often (and we know this given the name of this fabulous Forum, what it does in case of cystitis) make us worse and destroy all the good there is. Sometimes patience and taking more time to heal ourselves (in all cases of life, in my opinion) are the best weapons over haste and no longer knowing how to wait…

I hope to be useful to anyone who needs it.
