What is a Same Day Anaemia Blood test?

Anaemia is a condition that means a deficiency of healthy red blood cells. Anaemia can be temporary or long-term and ranges from mild to moderate, depending on haemoglobin.

Why should you get one?

The signs and symptoms of anaemia vary depending on the cause. Depending on the cause of the anaemia, you may have no symptoms. However, the symptoms may be:

  • Fatigue.
  • Weakness.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Chest pain.
  • Dizziness or confusion.

19 BioMarkers:

  • Haematocrit (HCT): volume percentage of red cells in the blood.
  • Haemoglobin carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body.
  • MCH (Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobin): average haemoglobin in one of your red cells.
  • MCHC (Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobin Concentration): haemoglobin concentration in a given packed red cell volume.
  • MCV (Mean Corpuscular Volume): average volume of a red blood corpuscle.
  • RDW-CV: range of red cell volume variations in percentage.
  • RDW-SD: range of red cell volume variations in femtolitre.
  • Red Cell Count (RBC): how many red cells do you have?
  • White Cell Count (WBC): how many white blood cells do you have?
  • Basophils: protect your body from bacteria.
  • Eosinophils combat parasites and certain infections.
  • Lymphocytes fight bacterial and viral infections.
  • Monocytes: remove dead or damaged cells from your blood.
  • Neutrophils: fight your body infection.
  • MPV (Mean Platelet Volume) indicates the production of the fragmented cells of your bone marrow.
  • Platelet Count: measures how many platelets you have. They are parts that help in your blood.
  • Iron: helps carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of the body.
  • CRP HS (C-reactive protein High Sensitivity) measures levels of inflammation in your body.
  • Ferritin measures the amount of iron your body stores.

How does it work?

Please make your appointment online and visit us on-site to have your blood drawn by our Registered Nurse. Please note that you must present your ID for your appointment.

How long do the results take?

The target turnaround time for the anaemia blood test results is 1 working day. The turnaround time is a guide only and sometimes depends on assay run schedules.

  • Q: What are its signs and symptoms?

    • A: Hair loss, dizziness, chest pain, headache, weakness, tiredness or lack of energy, and problems concentrating.
  • Q: How is it diagnosed?

    • A: You need to take an anaemia blood test.
  • Q: How do you treat iron deficiency?

    • A: Diet modification, medication or blood transfusion in severe cases.
  • Q: How long does it take to treat it?

    • A: It takes 1 to 3 months of iron therapy, depending on the severity of it and patient compliance.
