What will happen after April 1?

On July 1, 2019, the cooling-off period started. From this moment on, the motion prescribed that online casinos were not allowed to actively target the Dutch market for at least 2 years. If they complied, they could immediately apply for a license.

Furthermore, the Application module is going to change. The Ksa advises parties who started filling out the application module before April 1, 2022, but only submitted the application after April 1, 2022, to check carefully whether the data are still correct.

With the cooling-off period, the Ksa wanted to achieve that Dutch players would gamble at legal online casinos. The Upper House also felt that a distinction should be made between companies that have offered illegal gambling in the past and those that have not.
