This means that vitamin C can fight the damage that is caused by the disease-fighting process. The vitamin also facilitates healthy immune function by enhancing the development of white blood cells. This in turn helps the body in fighting against viruses. Remember, Vitamin C only helps to enhance immunity. It doesn’t guarantee that you won’t be infected by the virus. These include conditions like acute respiratory distress syndrome and the need for mechanical ventilation. These conditions have increased as a result of severe cases of covid 19. During the 2020 meta-analysis of nine existing clinical trials, a group of people who received an IV infusion and a group of controls were compared. The investigators found out that, on average, vitamin C reduced the length of mechanical ventilation by 14%. However, the effect was different amongst different researchers. It appeared larger when members of the control group needed longer periods of ventilation.

Not a sure cure!

Now that no cure has yet been approved, most people are depending on prevention. Although some have also turned to other alternative remedies, as well as supplements. People are doing everything in their effort to reduce the risk of contracting this virus. There is just very little evidence to suggest that any treatment is effective against coronavirus.   • Stay indoors if possible, especially if you are feeling sick.
  • Observe the law of social distancing while in public places.
  • Avoid crowded areas, especially places with poor ventilation.
  • Always cover your coughs as well as sneezes with your elbow, tissue paper or even a handkerchief.
  • Disinfect all surfaces regularly, especially if the surfaces are in frequent touch with people.
